Nutrition Worksheet

Type your answers to the following using Word.  Create a *header on your paper with your name, hour, and date.  Save your answers as nutrition worksheet in your Health Folder. Do not print your work today.  We will print when we complete this activity.

1. Go to Nutrition Facts & Calorie Counter and estimate your daily needs for calories, using the Daily Needs Calculator.

  1. What is your Body Mass Index?
  2. How many calories do you burn in a day?


2. Click on the link for the “50 Most Popular Foods” and choose one item from the list.   What is your chosen food?    Click on it and tell how many "fat" calories are in your chosen food?

3. From the Nutrition Facts & Calorie Counter, click on the “Taco Bell” link under the heading of “Fast Food Facts” and find the Cheese Quesadilla link.   

  1. Is this considered a good or bad food? Why?

  2. How many calories are in the quesadilla?

  3. How many of those calories are from fat?

4. Go to Nutri-facts.com and click on the Body Mass Index Calculator on the left-hand links bar and calculate your body mass.

  1. What is your body mass?

  2. Which category do you fall under?  Underweight, Normal, Overweight or Obese

5. At the MyPyramid.gov site click on the My Pyramid plan link on the left side.  Then fill in the information required to personalize your own pyramid.     After submitting your information, click on Tips to learn more about each of the six food groups.   Using the information you learned here, complete the Explore the Food Pyramid Worksheet for EACH of the six  food groups.   Save each worksheet with the name of the food group, for example, grains, fruits, etc.  You should have a total of six worksheets.  

6. Using the My Typical Menu form, type what you ate and drank on a typical day.  Then use the NutritionData website to find out how many calories you consumed.  Save your menu form in your Health folder. 

7.  Bonus:  To be completed after all other work is completed. 

             List 3 other interesting facts found on the NutritionData website.

*To create a header, click on 1. View, 2. Header and Footer.  Then type your name, hour, and date on the left side on three seperate lines.
